What is a civic association? Civic associations create a platform for residents to come together, address common concerns, and work towards a better future for everyone in and around their community. Whether through advocacy, community improvement projects, or social events, civic associations strengthen community and ensure residents have a voice in local matters.
The Battery Park Civic Association (BPCA) works to support a diverse, thriving, forward-looking community by providing a forum to foster neighborly discussion and to make every effort to promote the community’s collective interest in areas of broad-based concern. The association also strives to help preserve and enhance the social, physical, and historic characteristics of the neighborhood; and to represent the Battery Park neighborhood before governmental entities.
Monthly Meetings: 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Live location varies - check the public calendar on our homepage for the physical location and Zoom details for those joining remotely.
Neighbors gather monthly to share information about public services (including public safety), recreation, commercial activities, zoning, special use permits, and other issues related to the well-being of the community.
Historic Battery Park lies at the heart of our 700+ home community. The ribbon-shaped park features tennis courts, basketball courts, a community swimming pool, picnic tables, playgrounds, and a recently renovated stone house for park business. Muralist Sir James Thornhill’s popular portrait of Richmond native, Arthur Ashe, attracts visitors to the tunnel which memorializes Ashe’s life and connects the park’s two adjoining areas.
